"Every Time A Tear Falls" by Lauren Hartley

Lauren and I rearranged this song, came up with a new track, and then called in Mr. Tedd Tjornhom to take the track to an even higher level.
Add the guitar solo of Bret Short and the track then enters another atmosphere.

I am proud to have played a major part in putting this track together.
Take a listen and give some feedback!

Also check out the rest of Lauren Hartley's songs on her reverbnation page!

Upcoming songs for February!!

There are 2 projects I'm currently working on that will be released during the month of February. "Gravity" ft. Erin Chaney and another (which is currently untitled) ft. C.K. McLeod III.

I just recently finished tracking all vocals with Erin Chaney for her upcoming new single "Gravity".  Erin is a pleasure to work with and an amazing talent. She has a strong voice that sits well on this pop/club style track.

Mr. McLeod has an smooth style mixed with a lyrical ability that separates himself from a lot of artists. This project will actually be a double-single. I can't wait to finish this project.

Stay tuned for more updates and more great music.

Where I come from...is where they come from too.

Sometimes, when you focus on the abundance of regular rock in the mountain side, you can miss out on the gold that is glittering, waiting to be uncovered. Yesterday, as I was chit chatting with a fellow artist, I realized that.  I always knew the guy had talent and respected him for his craft, but little did I know what his craft and talents REALLY were. Ilk really thankful for the rendezvous we had and I feel like it is the beginning of a great musical collaborations in the future.  Sometimes I look and get caught up in the idea of "if I'm going to be bigger than this, I have to venture away from here"...but there are other people who feel the exact same way.  Those people are the ones I need to be working with on a consistent basis. Yesterday I wasn't knocked off my high horse (because I haven't saddled up) but I was prevented from getting onto one...and I like that.  It's refreshing to learn that there are others around you who you can honestly relate to. I'm glad that my focus been given another avenue to explore that will spell success for myself and the others I am about to take this journey with.

Until next time....

YEP YEP!

PROPER DIG by Jae Marley

NEW HOT SINGLE: "PROPER DIG" by Jae Marley
Produced by. Pompey

This is the new banging single by Jae Marley. Check it out!!!!

been fifty-leben days...umpteen hours...

ahhh here we are back again. I haven't posted in a couple of months. I really don't know WHAT to post about, so I guess a few little updates wouldn't hurt.

I'm currently finding and weaving my way into a position musically that I want to be in. I still have a lot of improving to do, but that will continue to come as long as I keep working hard. I've met a lot of new artists that I can't wait to do some major work with. Things are really looking up and I'll continue to work as hard as I can to get to where I want to be. I know that's really vague, but I'm pressed for time just a little bit.

I'll definitely go into more detail later. :)

Have a wonderful and blessed Tuesday!

Lease vs Exclusive? Which do you choose?

Recently I've had a few artists inquire about purchasing instrumentals from me. When I tell them that I lease tracks out for a certain amount, they generally then ask me what the price is for exclusive rights. They tend to feel my price range is a tad bit high for a 'lease'. However, understand there are more than one way to 'lease' or 'rent' out music.

So let me start by giving a little background on the basic 3 (as I have come to learn them) types of ways instrumentals can be sold.

1. The INEXCLUSIVE lease: This basically covers any "free download" instrumental or beat that anyone has gotten from the internet or from someone. It also includes the lower price tracks you will mainly come across (unless stated elsewhere in a contract between the artist and producer. But with the free or low price, what is the use of a contract right?...better do some research). A producer is free to lease these tracks to as many artists as possible. Why? Because he still owns the copyrights, licenses, and registrations to his work.

So that brings us to the next 2, which ill discuss in comparison...

An exclusive lease vs an exclusive sale:

The difference betweens the 2 is very minute, yet it is the difference between a $100 price tag and a $5,000 price tag.
The reason that I want to get into this is because as a producer I feel the word exclusive means one thing to me, and something else to an artist.
I generally sell my instrumentals under an EXCLUSIVE lease. Give the artist free reign of the track for a certain time period (generally 2-3 years). In that time span, I cannot lease the track to anyone else. However, the ARTIST cannot sell the instrumental either. Some artists feel that if they exclusively purchase a track, if they are approached by a label and the label wants to sign them, buy the song, and push it for them, that they have the right to do so. This is not the case at all. Without ownership of any copyrights, licenses, and registrations, you cannot TRANSFER OWNERSHIP of the instrumental. This is where the difference of exclusive sales and exclusive leases differ. If you actually PURCHASE a beat EXCLUSIVELY then you should have ownership not only of a tracked out beat, but also of any ownership of all copyrights and licenses to use. This technically cuts out the producer (based on the contract of course) from having any say so of where his track ends up....which is why these sales are extremely higher than exclusive leases. Its not much different than renting a home. As a tenant, u generally cannot rent the home out to someone else right? If u want to do so you must purchase the home instead of renting it.

Don't let yourself get caught up in the jargon of business if you dont know the definitions. If your song blows up and you don't have things in order, you can find yourself rapping a hit song for free down the line. .

Just a little clarification for everyone. Hit me up with any comments, discussion, or questions. If you're looking for some instrumentals or if you're in the SC/GA area and are looking for mixing and recording time, check out www.POMPEYPRODUCTIONS.com and contact me at POMPEYPRODUCTIONS@gmail.com.

God bless.

IF YOU BOUT BUSINESS...ACT ACCORDINGLY

I don't get it...I just don't understand it.

*sigh*

I really don't like it when I try to work with people, and they give you their butts to kiss. When you try to go out of your way to accommodate people and they don't show appreciation for your efforts.

But I'm just going to stop complaining and start taking some action. One thing I have to constantly tell myself is that my personal kindness could cause some unneccessary stress in my business life. So I'm going to have to stop being nice to folks when it comes down to my precious time.
Honestly, I don't care about the money. I have a job for that. Of course the extra money is good, but the little bit thats coming in on the side is NOT worth the baggage that comes along with it.

The funny part about it is, folks are going to think that I am in the wrong. I guess I'm going to have to be the bad guy then.

It's time to tighten up the circle once again.

So, with that being said, it's time to clean house. I'm going to have to go ahead and play the hand that I've been forced to play at this particular moment. It might lose me some business, but they weren't spending any major money anyway, so it's of no consequence.

I'll be posting some more tracks up that will be for lease. If you're interested, shoot me an email: PompeyProductions@gmail.com

more good news....

Today is a great day...despite whatever pain i may be in. I had a lil episode this morning, but I got through it (as usual). It came and went, and now I'm just dealing with the gas and pains that come after it. Only thing this time, It happened in the daytime, rather than at night...so instead of being able to go home and sleep it off, I'm here at work duking it out. But I'll be alright, as usual.

Good news though, even though its a little preliminary. So here is where we (or I, but I know ya'll wanna know too :D) stand as of right now.

Cardiologist says everything is alright with my heart.
Endocrinologist states that there are miniscule cysts on my thyroid gland, but nothing to worry about...its not too rare and are normal. No need for medicine or surgery as of this time.
and as far as the gasteronologist goes, the first ultrasound on my gallbladder showed up normal, and the HIDA Scan I had on my gallbladder came out looking normal too. I'm still waiting on the doctor to look at it, but thats what it looks like so far.

As of now, just waiting on some blood work to come back and get the final word on it. So far, nothing is wrong. Thats good news. Now I'm just thinking its something that I'm taking in and need to avoid. So I'm watching what i intake and trying to document any and everything that I'm taking in. Hopefully my past few months of playin somewhat of a pin cushion won't be in vain.

Anyways, I'm delighted to be working on a few projects with a lovely young lady named Lauren Hartley. If you haven't checked her out, you can go to my youtube page www.youtube.com/pompeyproductions and you can also check her out at www.facebook.com/laurenhartleymusic. She's working with some major players as far as production is concerned so I feel VERY priveledged to even be considered to do some production work for her. Make sure ya'll check her out though. She's awesome!

Well thats it for now.

Yep Yep and God Bless!

i HATE this type of inspiration, but it always works....

so i was TRYING to make something work with someone that was special to me, and it failed miserably.
Things were looking pretty good for a good while there, then I don't know what happened. I'm still in the dark on it, but it is what it is.
on the flip side, I came up with a pretty decent song that sounds pretty good.
Of course it has to do with the situation. I didn't put many details in it, but it covers most of it, I guess. It's 50% done now. I have to do some post production to it and add a few more detail to it and it'll be complete.

One thing I've learned though, is how to understand the difference between being angry and being hurt. At first, I wanted to almost curse the girl out, even though I KNOW she wouldn't listen to that. But I thought about it, and just had to understand that I was really hurt instead of mad. It was a sticky situation to begin with, and I knew that there was a possibilty of this coming around, I just didn't want it too, that's all. I definitely can't blame her for the decision she made, I just thought we were close enough for her to actually maybe talk to me about why she made it. I would still like to be friends with the girl, especially since we started out that way. I do care about her and what happens to her in the future and I wish her the best. However, I somewhat know her ways, and I doubt she'll speak to me again.

But, it was good while it lasted. I think what we had was good...could have been great...but the uncertainty of the future kind of ended that.

Well, let us move forward right?

right.

I'm still in the process of trying to find out whats going on with my health right now. For those who DON'T know, I haven't been feeling up to par lately. I'll explain more in my next blog. But all in all, I think we're making progess.

Well until next time. Be easy, and Be blessed.

They Got Me...

So I got robbed.

They came in and took my computer monitor (22 inches) and then decided to destroy everything else. I'm not sure who or why someone would want to do this, but they did it.

I'll be honest, at first I thought the a/c had just fallen out the window...but then i realized that all the desks would not have been turned over if that happened. Then I noticed my monitor was missing.

Funny thing is, I wasn't really upset. I didn't see a real need to be. Yeah I didn't like that someone had come up in my spot and took my stuff, but I can keep it moving one way or another. Needless to say though, there is no more studio.....here.... :)

I always make a way though.

With that being said. Check out the new song I JUST finished called "Still Checkin' For Me".

It's the only way I can get it off my chest in a positive way.
